CSS Layout

Columnar layouts in CSS:

There are two common methods for creating columnar layouts, and each has its own set of advantages and drawbacks:

"Absolute positioning", is the one that allows you to remove content from the regular document flow and place it wherever you please.

"Floats", while not technically a positioning scheme, allocates space for content and wrap the rest of the document around them.

Either absolute positioning or floats allow the control of elements necessary to build a multicolumn layout. Both floats and absolute positioning may be used on their own, or in conjunction with one another.
